Powys Lanes Rally reaches grand total of over £20,000 donated to charities

The DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally organised by Epynt Motor Club, was held last November in Llandovery. The rally was the final round of the WAMC Welsh Road Rally Championship, and with a full 90-car entry the event was a huge success.

This was the eleventh running of the Powys Lanes Rally, which in its first ten years raised over £16,000 for a range of charities and local causes.

Proceeds from last year’s event were recently donated at the Epynt Motor Club annual dinner and awards presentation.

During the celebrations, £2,000 a piece was donated to two local causes by event sponsor Gerwyn Jones of DG Jones Agri Ltd, alongside Clerks of the Course, Jamie Pickup and Ceri Davies.

The first cheque was received by Amber Graham (Chairperson), Ebony Halliwell (Secretary) and Lucy Arnold, representing the Llanwrtyd Wells Community Play Park Project; a group of local parents raising funds to develop the children’s park at the Dolwen Fields.

The second donation was collected by Rosie McCartney and Owen Davies on behalf of Llandovery Rotary Club; a group of volunteers who fundraise and support local causes.

This brings the grand total donated from the Powys Lanes Rally to a staggering £20,420.

Event sponsor Gerwyn Jones, who has kindly sponsored the event since it first ran in 2011, says:

‘I am proud to support the Powys Lanes Rally with such a hard-working committee, who work so hard to put on a successful event each year. The event started from nothing and now eleven years later, it is one of the best road rallies in Wales. To be able to have supported such a range of charities and local causes over the years is incredible. It is such a big achievement for a small committee.’

The 2024 DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally will take place on 9/10th November. For more information, please see the event page.
