The 2nd Autotest of 2015 was held at the Ceri Davies' farm near Llanwrtyd Wells on the 9th of August. There was a good entry of 13 drivers to start the day in damp slippy conditions. Leading after the 1st 2 Tests was Cameron Davies in his Nissan Micra, Ceri Davies was just 1 second behind in his Nissan Micra. Nick Powell was just 5 seconds behind them in his Citroen Saxo.

Cameron Davies carried on to win the day by 27 seconds in his Micra; Ceri Davies came home with 2nd in his Micra the gap would have been closer had it not been for a cone penalty on the 7th test. Seems home advantage didn't play to him and handbrake working better on 1 side than the other lost some time....apparently!

Nick Powell managed 3rd despite a cone penalty but generally had a good day, his times picked up towards the latter part of the event and just 5 seconds behind Ceri at the end it could have been very different.

Ryan Davies had a slow start to the day lying 7th after the first 2 tests however with his drastic weight loss program (with the help of the odd barn door) he put on some impressive times near the end of the event, despite picking up a wrong test on test 5 and 2 punctures on test 7 (on the same side!) he came back to 4th overall and 1st in the Standard Production Class.

5th Went to Morian Peters who struggled with the conditions to get the Civic to handle right and put down the power, A wrong test on test 5 and a slow time on 6 scuppered his chances for a repeating a previous win at the venue but had a clean run never the less.

Bradley Davies shared Camerons winning car and had a cracking day up until the last test where a wrong test dropped him from 4th to 6th however he still picked up a very good 1st in the Novice Class and good consistency showed throughout the day.

7th was Ben Gwillym who showed pace however a few cone penalties and a wrong test hampered his efforts, 8th was Luke Heath again using the winning Micra and built up has pace throughout the day, a slow start however and a couple of wrong tests cost time. Anthony Deans didn't quite have the same luck as he had at Powell's farm and his Puma was not 100% by the end of the day, Handbrake cables were a bit loose and with no handbrake he dropped a lot of time on the long test 7 this costing any chance of a good position for him, see what happens when you get a test without the stops in buildings! Haha.

10th was the great sounding BMW of David Evans, usually a drift car he took his car out for a spin and many spins he had, size may have been an issue for the big BMW in comparison with the Micras and a few more dents were added, a general lack of grip hampering the car in the small yard.

11th was an impressive debut to motorsport for Jak Canham and despite a slow start to the event he gained pace throughout the day and more importantly kept Ceri's Micra in one piece!

2 Retirements in the day the 1st of which was Ben Davies who dropped out in the lunch break after test 4 whilst lying 4th O/A quite an achievement considering the size of the BMW! The other was Geoff Harper who retired after 6 tests using the car to enjoy the event and do some testing ahead of more rallying.

Thanks to the organisers for putting on the event and the Ceri Davies for the use of the farm a great venue.

After a long break Autotests are back once again, the 1st event of 2015 was held at the Powell's farm near Newbridge on Wye on the 7th of June. There was a good entry of 14 drivers to start the day in a very dusty yard. Joint leaders after the 1st test were Ceri Davies in his Nissan Micra and Craig Golder in his Peugeot 205; many crews struggled with the 1st test and 7 crews picked up a costly wrong test and 2 others picking up cone penalties.

Gary Powell won the day by 17 seconds in his Citroen Saxo despite picking up a 10 second cone penalty midway through the day; Ceri Davies came home with 2nd in his Micra with a clean run all day.

Craig Golder managed 3rd despite a cone penalty and dust issues hampering his morning and then much of the afternoon was spent trying to fix the handbrake in his 205!; with all this 1st in the Standard Production class was good going.

Anthony Deans had a slow start with a wrong test on the 1st test however he set good times throughout the day to finish 4th in his Puma. Jamie Pickup had initially wanted to use his Peugeot 306 but after arriving he changed to Ceri's Micra fearing the 6 speed 306 would run out of lock too often; this proved to be a wise decision, a wrong test on test 1 along with a puncture slowed his start but made gains through the day however he was consistently around 5 seconds behind Ceri's times on each test, thank god Ceri doesn't drive the navscatters any more eh Jamie?!

Rosie Stephens had an excellent drive in Craig's 205 despite issues with the handbrake and the occasional engine gremlins she still put in some great times - good enough to put Craig off driving?? She finished 6th and won 1st Novice driver.

Ben Gwillym had 2 Wrong Tests and despite good time in the 206 finished 7th, John Hopkins finished 8th again another to fall foul of a wrong 1st test. Phil Gadsby in the Clio did a good effort to try and dent every panel during the day and picked up a puncture with some enthusiastic driving and finished 9th.

Jamie “Dipstick” Humphreys was another to put on a good show in his Fiesta, Another to pick up a wrong test on test 1 although I think the 10.30am start was still a bit too early for him! 10th was his result.

Jamie Arnold was the entertainer of the day in a BMW that shouldn't have made the startline let alone the finishline! The head gasket had gone before the start and the engine was cooking with no working fan, yet still it was revving flat out all day, okay it needed bump starting sometimes and ran rough if it wasn't flat out and probably drank half the farms water supply during the day but he finished 11th O/A and 1st Rwd without a dent on the car and a lot of gravel and dust thrown around!

Ian Morgan in his Ford Ka drove very well and was quick enough but was perhaps pushing too hard as he picked up 40 seconds of cone penalties AND 2 wrong tests, this dropped him down to 12th.

Jon Hawkins swapped from his usual co-drivers seat to try his hand at driving, although he considering double driving with someone he instead decided to use his daily drive BMW 523 estate! Certainly the largest car of the day and both BMW crews kicked up a lot of gravel and dust with enthusiastic driving, he didn't dent the car (thankfully!) but did get stuck on the last test, putting on a show with a few moments including reversing over the stop line after a spin! He rounded off the finishers in 13th Place

Morian Peters in his high revving Civic was trying from the word go but perhaps too much power and grip caused dust issues in the morning and then he hit a gatepost in the afternoon, badly denting the rear quarter and putting a rear wheel out of line. That was his day over whilst running 3rd O/A.

Thanks to Brian Jones for putting on the event and the Powell's for the use of the farm a great venue.

Due to a lack of entries on the last 2 rounds of the autotest championship it has been decided to cancel the last 2 rounds of this years championship. The club has decided not to run an autotest championship in 2015 but may reconsider this is several competitors are interested.

The 2nd round of the 2014 championship took place on Easter Sunday at Tirabad Quarry. Last year the heavy rain all day made conditions difficult but this year it was the thick dust. Nick Powell won his 2nd event of 2014 but only just. Ben Davies led for most of the day and only lost out on the last 2 long tests. Ben was running on standard road tyres as he was in the standard production class, on gravel tyres he would most probably have won. Peter Jones in his Jago special set good times to win the rear wheel drive class ahead of Geoff croose who turned up in his escort to sort out some teething problems, when the problems are all sorted it will very competitive. Ryan Davies had 2 wrong tests and finished 4th. A wrong test on test 1 dropped Aled Harries from 3rd down to finish 5th. Ben Gwilym finished 7th overall and 2nd novice on his 1st autotest, he was actually ahead of Nick Powell after the 1st test. John Hopkins finished in 6th and 1st novice for the second successive event in his new V W Polo, the old rover has gone on holiday to China!

Thanks go to Mike Kennett and Natural Resources Wales for the venue and Dan and Sophie for marshalling.

Photos of the autotest can be seen on our facebook page.

The next autotest is at Graig Goch Fram Newbridge on June 8th
