DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally donates £4,000 to charities

The DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally organised by Epynt Motor Club, was held last November in Llandovery. The rally was the final round of the WAMC Welsh Road Rally Championship, and with a full 90-car entry the event was a huge success.

This was the twelfth running of the Powys Lanes Rally, which has made donations to a range of charities and local causes each year, now totaling over £24,000.

Proceeds from last year’s event were recently donated at the Epynt Motor Club annual dinner and awards presentation.

During the celebrations, £2,000 a piece was donated to two charities by event sponsor Gerwyn Jones of DG Jones Agri Ltd, alongside Clerk of the Course, Jamie Pickup.

The first donation was received by Jill Tatman and Hazel, both trustees of Llandovery Youth and Community Centre. The Centre is a youth and community club in the heart of Llandovery which is open every day for people to access a range of groups and workshops. Jill said ‘we are so grateful to the Epynt Motor Club for their donation of £2,000, profits from the DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally. We are delighted to be able to add this to our Summer Camp, which will be enjoyed by all the young people.’

The second donation was received virtually by Vicky Harper, who joined by video call on behalf of Stoke Rescue Safety Group, who provide motorsport rescue and medical services at a range of motorsport events across the country. Ian Thompson said on behalf of the group that it ‘is a fantastic contribution towards our current project to replace the Stoke Rescue vehicle and upgrade equipment.’

Event sponsor, Gerwyn Jones of DG Jones Agri, who has kindly sponsored the event since it first ran in 2011, said:

‘I am proud to support the Powys Lanes Rally with such a hard-working committee, who work so hard to put on one of the best road rallies in Wales. To be able to have supported such a range of charities and local causes over the years is incredible. It is such a big achievement for a small committee.’

This brings the grand total donated from the DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally to a staggering £24,420.
